We all have different ways of keeping a potential love interest on the radar. Sometimes, it’s obvious. Other times, it’s not so obvious. For starters, there’s the “hit list” and then there’s the “radar list”. Let’s distinguish between the two, shall we?
I think it’s safe to say that most of us have a “hit list,” which is reserved for potential hit-and-quit lays. This concept is similar to a celebrity cheat sheet, but without the celebrities (or the cheating). The “radar list,” on the other hand, is reserved for the potentials you’re interested in dating, but aren’t so sure exactly. This uncertainty might be caused by such detrimental flaws as someone being a bad kisser or severely lacking in intellectual depth. Or maybe you’re just a commitment-phobe.
Whatever the reason, you probably have a radar list tacked up in your brain somewhere. The question to ask now is, how do you keep your list from depleting so that you’ll always have options? Here are four ways to keep a potential on the radar:
Tip #1: Maintain a flow of communication, but don’t go overboard. The dodging of dozens of missed phone calls (or texts) speaks volumes all on its own. If it doesn’t, then you’re dense. Communication is a two-way street, so don’t screw yourself by getting caught on a one-way street.
Tip #2: Compliments are good but only to a certain capacity. Throw in playful back-handed compliments occasionally to appeal to the desire for the Alpha-male or woman. Playful bantering is a great way to flirt. It peaks one’s need for a mental challenge.
Tip #3: Never compromise your independence. Maintaining one’s independence is an important component to the dating game. It plays into the element of mystery that so many of us love when we’re dating someone new. It’s a mental challenge: a mystery waiting to be solved. Besides, if you tend to be the submissive pushover in a relationship, then you deserve to be cheated on because you’re probably really boring.
Tip #4: Stroke the ego. I’m not sure about women exactly, but men love feeling manly, and the best way to do this is by stroking his ego. Men fight over egos, and they fall in love over egos. A man’s ego is almost as prized as his penis, so stroke it (pun intended).
