With an army of top model followers and clothing featured in practically every fashion magazine each month, it’s not surprising that Alexander Wang is one of the few designers whose brand has gotten stronger since the recession hit. Known for his structured leather leggings and jackets, studded handbags, and unbelievably soft loose fitting t-shirts, Wang has taken the fast lane to stardom and become the go-to designer for grungy urban-chic clothing at a high fashion price.
While staying true to his luscious fabrics and asymmetrical silhouettes, Wang has focused his resort 2010 collection on what he deems to be the “essentials”. How leather running shorts and a pair of heavily draped khaki pants are regarded as “essentials” is beyond me, but regardless of the label, Wang has once again blown me away with his excellent tailoring and innovative shapes.
