And the Winner Is

Hey Taylor, I'm happy for you and I'mma let you finish but MTV has the worst award shows of all time.

If the Emmys on Sunday heralded anything, other than the fact that Aaron Paul is a national freaking treasure, it’s that awards season is upon us. To which my heart gives a resounding “UGH” because honestly, award shows are pretty terrible. And there are so many. And they usually recognize the same people. And they almost always run long. And…well, you get the idea. There used to be kind of a refuge from these boring and stuffy proceedings (although admittedly the Big Ones have made an effort to tone it down in recent years) whenever MTV got in the game with their award specials: the Video Music Awards (VMAs) and the Movie Awards. Not so much anymore though. In fact if I had to institute a hierarchy from best to worst, MTV would  likely be the most egregious offender. There was a time and place- I’m pretty sure it was 1999 and Lisa Kudrow (?!) was hosting the MTV Movie Awards (I’m old, ok? Get off my lawn)- where  I actually watched the program in its entirety. NEVER AGAIN. And certainly not this year with Chelsea Handler hosting and Ke$ha being billed a a main performer. I mean I could live blog it for the few morsels of actual relevance that occur through out the telecast but then again I could also get mauled by a bear. And believe me, death by grizzly is the far less painful option.
