I have to say, India is growing on me slowly. Now that I’m less busy with work, I finally get to see more of my surroundings. You know, last week I got super sick from stress, food and the hectic life here. So I kinda started to dislike India a lot. Everything just seemd so chaotic and disordered, so smelly and dirty… But then I realized that people aren’t hectic. More super relaxed sort of… So I thought, maybe India isn’t weird at all, but my German mind set is. And what I needed was a minute to relax and change this stuck “everything has to be super correct and orderly” thinking and open my mind to befriend all the new impressions. or something like that.
Today the whole world looks different. I mean, for me everything still has to be clean and orderly ; ) however, suddenly I can see the order in this Indian chaos. There IS a walkway! Its the whole STREET! who needs a sidewalk thingy if they can just use the whole street?! duh! Everything seems much easier and even my little store at the corner sells Nutella now! I feel much more home already =) Plus, oh wonder, a Coffee Bean’s just opened up right around the corner! Awww that makes the little European in me super happy!!!
I hear there’s even an organic food store close! isn’t that just wonderful?! I found a whole bunch of food that doesn’t make my stomach turn and now I feel just super! I really enjoy living here now. And for some reason I start to feel like in my very own Bollywood movie. I love the Indian music! Bollywood is like High School Musical – just better : p
Those Indian people… so funny and overly dramatic! umm… kinda just like myself. Maybe there’s a little Indian girl in me after all, and I just never knew I’m so Indian =D
I also love going down town Mumbai. Today I went there for castings and even though we were stuck in traffic for hours, I love to soak up the city and drive along the sea side forever. It all looks like a scenery from some movie, like The Far Pavilions or The Secret Garden or Dschungle Book. It’s also that you can find the whole world in this one city. One corner looks totally downtown Hong Kong, the other just like Paris and the sea promenade like Manila Bay. Maybe just in my point of view… but it kinda makes me feel at home =)
Since the day I arrived in India, I was feeling weird and nauseous. So much preasure. So many new impressions people expected me to be familiar with already. Such intense food. My stomach couldn’t handle all this stress. I was thinking about leaving this place asap. Today I had a chocolate cappuchino. And suddenly I wasn’t feeling nauseous anymore. I found lovely friends here. People are treating me so great. And guys drop their jaws when I walk by. Hello wonderful India. I kinda love it here.
BTW: I have a new hair color. How Indian do I look now! =D
And here one more India Fun Fact for you guys: The India Times is the most read English language newspaper in the world! crazy, huh?
