It’s no new thing to meet someone online these days. There’s obviously already a market for it when you have online dating sites like eHarmony and Match.com. But people have taken it to the next level by what I think of as ‘cold calling’ people on MySpace (well, maybe not so much anymore) and Facebook. They look at their pictures, their profiles and think, “this might be a good match for me.”
I mean, how does this work exactly? Do you strike up conversation through IM about the fact that you both like rap music and quotes from ‘The Hangover’, and then hope down the road that not only will you actually meet in person, but that this person a) looks like their picture and b) has something else to offer other than rap music and movie quotes. Or, do you just have the relationship from start to finish all online?
Since I’ve never been interested or appeared to be interested in someone merely by an online profile, I would really like to know who this has worked for and how. Because on the flip side, I guess I could see how it could be a time saver. You build up the groundwork through email, and possibly texts, and then when you go in for the meeting, you have already decided if this person is worthy of a relationship.
But then again, during the ‘getting to know you’ phase, I don’t think it would really rest easy with me knowing that there were an undetermined number of online ladies trying to ‘get to know’ them as well.
Facebook dating. Not for me. You?

Upon further investigation, I see people really take Facebook dating seriously. There are actually apps you can use and tips to help you out. Who knew?

Really Nice….
random fact but affiliates of this dating app get paid $4.50 for each person that signs up. Thats why this app has been pushed so hard.
another random fact but Zoosk.com pioneered the concept of social dating when they first launched by integrating online dating and social networking. That’s how the term social dating was coined. To learn more about social dating, check out the article I did on it: http://www.examiner.com/x-2344-LA-Singles-Examiner~y2009m8d12-Relationship-101-What-is-social-dating
