Hemlock Tavern’s lineup for 1/29/09 will make you want to go to there…

Eagle and Talon is the embryonic version of Sleater-Kinney, with all the promise and all the talent. Plus, this band is going places and you pretty people who choose to follow my advice will get an intimate experience you’ll be unable to have when they’re too good to play dive bars anymore. They probably go on first, so please be there by 8pm if you’re truly interested.

These lovely ladies are on the bill with Man/Miracle, yet another great band that’s beginning to emerge and spread its wings from Oakland. With alluring abstract vocals and elemental guitar solos, this is a high energy band and is worth the price of the beer it will cost you to see them.

And last but certainly not least we have Railcars. Two words: beautiful noise.

Let’s face it, everyone…we’ve found ourselves in an economic recession not of our own making; times are tough. But this is a way to treat yourselves without breaking the bank. Good tunes, good brews, good company…so come on down. And maybe buy a struggling writer a pint? No? Okay…your call.
