Yes, it’s true, I absolutely LOVE rasterbating. I do it in my room, I can do it at school, I can do it at work! Anywhere!
Now what the hell is rasterbating? Well, I’m not even 100% sure if rasterbating really is a word in the English language. What I do know is that there is this awesome website that lets you use their online Rasterbator or you can download the program onto your computer.
For all you not so computer savvy folks, when you rasterize a picture, you’re converting an image into points or pixels, and in this case you do so onto a grid. Thanks to the Rachel Ray show, I learned this nifty way to spruce up any living space with the click of a mouse.
It’s super simple. All you have to do is upload a picture file from either the internet or your computer onto their website, found *here* and follow the instructions. Basically it just tells you to tweak a few numbers and format the picture to fit whatever sized space you want, and then it will give you the picture back, broken down piece by piece. According to their website, the “Rasterbator creates huge, rasterized images from any picture. Upload an image, print the resulting multi-page pdf file and assemble the pages into extremely cool looking poster up to 20 meters in size.”
Okay, still don’t get what the hell I’m talking about? Once you check out the site you can paruse through their gallery and see what people have created. Take a looksie, here are some of my favorites:

*It makes for a really neat and personalized gift. Imagine blowing up baby pictures, vacation and travel, etc. By hitting up the dollar store you can frame each picture and make the art piece a little bit more classier.
You might have to spend your pocket change on some computer ink, paper, and tape. The cost of this project is estimated around as little as $45 versus the $250+ you would be spending on a wall sized picture of Marilyn Monroe or Bob Marley that everyone and their mom has. C’mon, this is a recession friendly decorating idea.
