I seriously wonder how anyone could possibly not be in love with Paris. This city offers you simply everything! From lovely little cafes to huge parks, fancy night clubs, some of the world’s best restaurants, amazing art galleries and museums, theaters, castles, etc etc, the list just doesn’t end.
I finally overcame my champagne sickness and enjojed our amazing brunch near Place Vendome this morning. After eating a mountain of french toast, I went to see Notre Dame, which looks just like in a Disney movie haha. Plus tons of tourists around, people selling all sorts of french stuff and a inline skating race thingy blocking the whole street. I loved it!
I didnt go inside since the waiting line was longer then the skating race. Instead I took the metro straight to Montmartre to check out the lovely neighborhood of the Amelie movie and hike up to Sacre Coeur. First thing I saw however when i got out the underground was loads of Algerian football hooligans partying on the street witj flags and fireworks and it felt like 2006 all over again. The cute French police men were trying to controle the situation the best they could. As if they had any chance. Ahaha. Luckily I didn’t get hit by any firework and arrived tres well at Sacre Coeur.
At the bottom of the stairs was the usual petite carnival with vintage carousel, chocolate crepes, Eiffel Tower souviniers and cotton candy in all colors. Then on the walk up to the church of course a bunch of French people frenching around on the grass. Ew. My German coldness feels like throwing up when seeing so much public affection. The next 100 steps I was bothered by a few beggers and bracelet sellers here and there. But then… What are the odds! Hello breakdancers in front of the church!
What the heck! I mean, yea much fun, but play Ludacris “Area Codes” outside while inside SACRE COEUR is a holy mass going on? Hmm. Interesting. I wonder if the pope approves… Anywho, i went inside the building. People were soaking up the beauty of the church while French nonnes where singsonging. Amazing. I sneakily took some pictures when my silly blackberry totally flashed into the security’s face. So i had to leave quickly… Otherwise they might find the three videos i took as well. muahaha!
I went out to explore more of the neighborhood to get the feel like Audrey Tautou. I bought a French hat at some vintage market and a croissant in the next bakery.
I really do love this city soooo much! I could totally move here and stay forever! And it definitely does heal mon broken coeur. On my way back home I saw a couple police men walking up and down Carla Bruni’s house. Ohlala =D
