Bruce Campbell makes every movie he is in better. He will never win an Oscar, and I will not deny that he overacts every role he is given, but he is never, ever boring.
I had the privilege of seeing the world premiere of My Name is Bruce at the Ashland Independent Film Festival, at which Mr. Campbell himself appeared and introduced the movie. Wearing a Hawaiian shirt and looking disconcertingly silver-haired.
I have no idea when or if this movie will hit the market, rumors have been swirling for the past couple of years and Bruce himself said he wasn’t sure before the film started. When and if it does, do not miss it. It is pure hilarity from start to finish. As ridiculous as you could hope, with Bruce playing a charicature of his best-loved character, Ash, combined with a dash of washed up alcoholic B-movie actor pitiful-ness. It is well worth the time and ticket price to seek this movie out, especially if you are a Bruce Campbell fan.
