“Dreams feel real while we’re in them. It’s only when we wake up that we realize something was actually strange.”
Back in 2008, the biggest blockbuster of the summer was The Dark Knight. Christopher Nolan’s smash sequel to the amazing Batman Begins was a masterpiece. I don’t throw around that word around a lot, but The Dark Knight is that damn good. Because of the massive success that The Dark Knight was, everyone immediately thought Nolan would go straight to work on Batman 3. Everyone was shocked to hear that he would put Batman 3 on hold and focus on another project. Fast forward two years and Inception was revealed. Little was known about this film, only that it dealt with dreams and nothing more. Now the film has been released to the masses and it is better than anyone could have dreamed of.
Inception stars Leonardo DiCaprio as Cobb. He is a thief that specializes in extracting memories and ideas from people through their dreams. He is helped by his colleague Arthur, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt. It is when they attempt to extract something from Saito, a business man played by Ken Watanabe, that Saito presents Cobb with a job offer. The job is to plant an idea in someone’s head through their dream. The process is called inception. Saito offers Cobb a reward he cannot refuse and takes the job. Cobb and Arthur travel across the globe gathering help from the best people of what they do. This includes Ariadne, played by Ellen Page, and Eames, played by the brilliant Tom Hardy. This job is not only difficult, because inception has been proven to be difficult, but Cobb’s wife played by the lovely Marion Cotillard, is affecting his sub conscience, and the job at hand.
Brilliant performances all around, everyone is on top of their game. I would be very surprised if Leo doesn’t get an Oscar nomination for his performance here. Nolan deserves an Oscar nomination for this film as well. It is so brilliantly crafted that, although it may seem confusing at times, his way of storytelling doesn’t make you feel lost. Everything is crafted perfectly that the high stakes presented in the film never leave your mind, thus, keeping you on the edge of your seat the entire way. The way the story is told is absolutely incredible. At one point in the film, four different scenarios are playing out at the same time, though none of them seem overwhelming. You do get a sense that this job isn’t easy because an idea does start very small that eventually, slowly but surely, it grows into something that can change the world.
Changing the world, one sheep at a time
It makes you think, it makes you feel, it makes you want to sleep so you can explore your own dreams, just so you can see what you find. This film is brilliant in every way, shape, and form. You are making a great disservice to yourself if you skip this film. If you only see one film this summer, make it Inception. I wholeheartedly promise that you will not be disappointed.
Don’t forget the popcorn

Couldn't agree with you more! My dreams are crazy as it is, so of course this movie really had me thrown! The thing too is that my friend and I thought the complete opposite as to what we felt the end meant. Finally, a movie worth my $10.
