Peter Pan Had the Right Idea

Published on March th, 2009 - Author: K.Marie

Peter Pan never wanted to grow up, and I wish that I lived in fairytale land where I didn’t have to be an adult. Getting old and wrinkly is the least of my worries, but when it comes to having to work hard and busting ass to live a decent lifestyle, that’s the part I hate the most.

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t think that everything should be handed to me, but but right now, times are rough. I consider myself a hard worker and I do as much as I can to support myself since I’ve moved out of my parents’ house and decided to go away to college. The economy sucks and I’m thankful I have a job that allows me to pay for as much bills as possible, but it’s still a constant struggle to get by.

I’m lucky that my parents try here and there to help me out. Living in Los Angeles has been one of the hardest, most stressful experiences of my life. Between the nightlife and all the fun things there is to do out here, the out of towners see it as a fun party lifestyle. To them it may just seem like California’s version of Vegas. There’s more to Los Angeles than that facade they see, but I guess that’s because they see it as a vacation. We’re all working hard so that we can be here, it’s no vacation for us. It’s work hard, play later.

Sometimes I just wish that I was still in high school. Back in the day, I could live for free and only had to worry about getting straight A’s and making enough money to pay for the bare minimum. It was good times and parties on the weekends. That was the good life! Time machine anyone?
