Acid Jazz: A cocktail of looped beats vibing jazz-funk with electronic dance

Birth place: South side of the UK

Birthday: ’80’s & ’90’s

Musical elements: jazz, funk, hip-hop, soul, house and disco baby

Why: What started off as jazz fusion in the 1960’s – a blend of the spontaneity of jazz shaken (not stirred) with the rhythm of blues and the electronic grooves of rock – later fused into its birth child named Acid.

Impact: Eventually gave birth to its off-spring: nu jazz, nu-funk and trip hop.
