I happened upon “Robot Chicken” via Netflix. Created by actor Seth Green and his pal Matt Seinrich, each episode is between ten to fifteen minutes long and is comprised of quick sketches that last one minute at most. It’s perfect for those of us who no longer have fully-functioning attention spans. Even better, they use dolls and action figures from the Eighties to parody pop culture in a silly, often twisted way and have a cult following among the endless parade of celebrities who eagerly supply voice-over talents for the characters. The animation is impressive – even if you hate the show (like my Dad, who insists on calling it “Robo-Chicken”), you’d be lying if you denied that it was an innovative idea in a sea of predictable, seen-it-before crap.
If you have television, you can catch it on “Adult Swim”, which is the after-ten-p.m. portion on Cartoon Network. (Another good one from that channel is “Metalocalypse”, which features the best death metal ever…from a cartoon band!) If you don’t have T.V. nor the desire to subscribe to Netflix, go to www.adultswim.com to watch any episode of “Robot Chicken” for free on your computer.
