Yesterday, after 5 long days of castings, I booked my first job!! yippeh =D It’s so great to work again after two months of vacation! Plus, being at work is such a great chance for me to learn some Hindi words and more about culture and people of my country. For example, when I arrived at the shooting place, the first thing to do was drink Chai (in India: spiced tea cooked with milk and sugar). I love that in India everyone drinks Chai all the time and everywhere! Then I had to eat some coconut with sugar while Indian music is playing in the background. “For praising God”. What a beautiful morning ritual!
It was also the first time I’ve ever worn a saree in my life and it made me feel veryyy Indian =D I think more people should wear sarees. like, all over the world! it’s so comfortable and stylish! and hot!! every girl and woman wearing a saree loves to show her curves and belly… i love it ^^
of course i had no idea how to put on this huge piece of fabric. it’s really just one huge scarf you fold in a certain way and wrap it around so it looks pretty. luckily i’m just the model, and wrapping me into cloths is the stylist’s job =D so I just had to jump into the under-skirt and the rest was done by my super quick saree-wrapers.
Its actually really hard to walk in this saree when it’s wrapped around your legs super tight – let alone posing! and it gets very painful for your back after a while. good thing i figured the two secret code words for “i need a break”. it’s “CHAI” or “HUNGRY”. cause as long as you’re holding a cup of tea, noone dares to bother you – it’s officially a breat thing hehe. and when you say you’re hungry, every Indian person will love to stuff you with their delicious food =D it’s just wonderful!
less wonderful is wiping off the ton of make up after the shoot! it was really much fun when i took a rickshaw back home. i’m not sure if i was more afraid of just people seeing my face like that or the monsoon rain washing my eyes down the cheaks… haha
so the last two days i was wearing over 50 sarees. for a billion people you have to show diversity i guess =) so i’ll wear a lot more the next days… oich, my whole body hurts. 10 hours of saree shoot… but it’s a good pain… like a muscle ache from too much workout or so. anyway – i love to be back at work! it’s so much fun! cant wait for more =D
