“She’s Out of My League” Movie Review

Published on March th, 2010 - Author: Joshua

Hello Neavers,

I’ve never written for you all before, but welcome to the rest of your life. My sole purpose is to educate you on my opinion of new film releases that are playing in a theater near you.

What qualifies me to review movies? I’m a 21 year old Communications Major with a Minor in Television at Chapman University, which means I’m just like you. I watch movies with the general public in mind, and will do the same when reviewing them. My review scale is very simple, and self-explanatory.

SEE IT, TOO CLOSE TO CALL, and FORGET IT. So that being said, welcome to my first movie review. Many more are to come.

“She’s Out of My League” starring Jay Baruchel and Alice Eve is a comedy about an average guy who lands a not so average girl.

The Official Ruling: SEE IT!!!

This film is one of the funnier films that has been released in a long time. Penned by the same duo that wrote “Sex Drive,” it delivers a truly enjoyable comedy experience.

The story plays out like any other romantic comedy so don’t expect a genius reinvention of the genre here, but do expect outstanding performances from the supporting cast. With newcomers like TJ Miller and Nate Torrence who carry most of the comedic burden, I was pleasantly surprised at how funny they actually were.

For too long we have been forced to watch Seth Rogen poke fun at himself for being a fat stoner. Too long have we been forced to watch Jonah Hill yell obscenities because he always seems to be pissed off about something.

It’s time now for fresh faces in the realm of comedy and “She’s Out of My League” provides just that. With an official “SEE IT!!!” rating, I ask all of you movie goers to go out and enjoy a refreshing feel good comedy that will have you leaving the theater with a smile.

This is the second positive review I’ve read for this film, so I’m tempted. Question: if I have loathed Jay Baruchel in every movie he’s been in previously (including ‘Almost Famous’ – sorry, Lucy), will I hate him less after seeing ‘She’s Out Of My League’?

    I am a golden gold

    Britt,

Unfortunately you will not hate him less seeing as he was my least favorite part of the film. HOWEVER, the supporting cast was funny enough to redeem the awkward mess that is Jay Baruchel.

Fair enough, my good man. Fair enough.

I question the scientific validity and accuracy of your reviewing system.

“Educate” is a poor word choice. I would suggest using “inform” instead. Also, you should switch your use “of” and “on.” There should not be a comma between “very simple and self-explanatory.” Use a comma after “She’s Out of My League.” You should also use a comma after “Alice Eve.”
