The Best Sangria Recipe. Ever.

Yes, I will be bold enough to claim my sangria as the best ever. I perfected this recipe recently with my dear friend Laurel. In honor of the beginning of summer, and long nights spent imbibing by the ocean, I present to you this concoction. Not only is sangria delicious, but (in moderation) healthy. So drink up, and getcher vitamins!

Ingredients:

Five very ripe, juicy oranges, two lemons, two limes, a bottle of red wine, sugar, and a bottle of sparkling orange soda (we used the “blood orange” whole foods brand)

Squeeze the fruit, and add the juice to pitcher with the entire bottle of red wine. Add half the bottle of sparkling soda, and half a cup of sugar (or more, or less, depending on your sweet tooth). Mix it all up, letting the sugar dissolve…throw in extra slices of the citrus fruit if you like and enjoy! Drink within a few hours, or the soda will go flat. Also – a dash of hard liquor can be added (cognac, my mother recommends) for those who like more of a bite.
