The power of a nickname.

My day consists of watching and listening. I never liked the term “Dreamer.” I find it to be mystical and I see myself as practical. At least to some degree. I also find myself trying to remember names and faces, but names have something more to them. I try to correlate personality to the name. I know we have all thought about that at least once. We state things like, “He looks like a John” or  even funny alliterations like “Debbie Downer.”

So names, yes names. Many of us have many nicknames, most of which differ according to group and location. The more common the name, the more of an inconvenience it might feel. There are usually a select few that call you by a certain name, and that is comforting. So in retrospect maybe you can judge your level of respect you have for a person by what nicknames they have chosen for you.

I was laying in bed, staring at my ceiling. A random thought came to mind like they usually do.

I find that my best moments come when I am stuck in my head.

Earlier in my day I found myself telling people that I am only one man. “Obviously I cannot be in five places at once!” I would say this with a funny voice. Then I thought about it a little more. What if I could be five. Me plus four. What a thought, and it made me go deeper into my consciousness.

What would each copy be named? Would I keep a nickname rhythm? See, to me Charles is a great name to word play. So I thought, and I came up with a nickname to each personality.

Charles: The sensitive man.

Charlie: The nice guy.

Chuck: The mean friend.

Chip: The cool guy.

Chaz: The pompous man.

After I named my new clones I had another random thought. Maybe we all have a set of five. Could we make different personalities to have for different people? I think the idea of five should be looked at closely, and possibly the power of a nickname.

I have a large amount of nicknames. It becomes a hassle. One is OR. I figured the name was funny…
