Weekend Movie Homework: Films That Make School Seem More Awesome Than It Really Is

Welcome back all and happy back to school to all. That is, if you are going to school. If you are going to school, then  no doubt you’re reading this while trying to stay awake in your anthropology class. Don’t you wish that school was as awesome as the movies? Yeah, me too. So here are some films that make school seem more awesome than it really is.

Fast Times At Ridgemont High

A classic coming of age tale that tells the story of multiple high school students on their senior year of high school. The pressures of losing one’s virginity, dating, abortion, college, sports, and even graduating. This film is complete with sex, drugs, and dick teachers that, in the end, were pretty awesome. Considering that this film was released in 1982 it’s amazing because the themes still, to this day, hold true. Of course, we’ve all faced these pressures or are facing them right now. It’s a film that will still teach you something about your teen years even today. Plus, no other character is as cool as Jeff Spicoli!

Bring It On

I really wish my high school cheerleading team had girls as hot as Kirsten Dunst, Eliza Dushku, and Gabrielle Union. Unfortunately for me, my high school cheerleading team neither looked nor performed like the girls of Bring It On. It tells the story of the Rancho Carne Toro Squad being the best in the nation. That is, until the squad from East Compton give them a run for their money. It is definitely a guilty pleasure for me. It’s filled with great jokes, decent acting, with a good story to boot. It’s sad to say that the studio wanted more money and released 20 billion sequels that went straight to DVD. Avoid those at all cost since they’re pretty much the same story, only with crappier acting, lame script and cast. P.S. I love you Eliza Dushku!

Accepted

When Bartleby doesn’t get accepted to the college of his choice, he makes up his own college. Thus, setting up the best setting ever. A college where you can learn what ever you want. The South Harmon Institute of Technology is a school where I’m sure we’d all want to go to. Especially if it had students like Blake Lively. Jonah Hill in the wiener suit is amazing, plus a return to acting for Sam Horrigan. Once again, solid acting, great laughs and Blake Lively. P.S. I love you even more Blake Lively!

Ferris Bueller’s Day Off

It’s Ferris. I mean IT’S FERRIS. ‘Nuff said.

Notable Mention: National Lampoon’s Van Wilder. Ryan Reynolds and Tara Reid, when she was still hot, give you great laughs if you’re into some gross humor. Good nonetheless.

Don’t forget the popcorn
