Weekend Movie Homework: Teen Flicks

Happy Weekend! It is time for the Weekend Movie Homework! This week I have some great “Teen Flicks” for you to check out for the first time or relive again!

American Pie

A teen classic from 1999. It is the story of a group of friends from High School that make a pact to have sex before the end of their senior year of high school. It may sound like a typical teen movie, but cast is so good, the acting is good, and a great script that avoided cliches back in 1999. Though it has been replicated to death after this film, it is a raunchy comedy that has a good heart. If the reports of American Pie 4 are true, then I will highly be looking forward to that as well.

Can’t Hardly Wait

Another great teen flick from the 90′s that may not be on many people’s radar. Jennifer Love Hewitt, Peter Facinelli, Ethan Embry, and Seth Green make up a cast of high school graduates that unite at the last high school party after graduation. Every single little story in this film is interesting, hilarious, and sometimes heart warming. I dare you not to shed a tear at the end of the film. Plus, I have  a soft spot for the nerd rising up and becoming the life at the party. Charlie Korsmo steals the film in his last acting role.

10 Things I Hate About You

Your classic Taming of the Shrew story set in modern day high school. I cannot think of anyone better than the late Heath Ledger and Julia Styles in these lead roles. There’s no need to explain the stories nor how good the performances are. Go see it now.

Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist

In what was one of my favorite films of 2008, Nick & Norah tells the story of Nick, played by Michael Cera, and coincidentally, Norah, played by Kat Dennings, that happen to be at the right place at the right time. Fate is pushing these two people to fall in love despite the obstacles of Tris, Nick’s ex girlfriend, played by Alexis Dziena, and Norah’s drunk friend, Caroline, played by Ari Graynor, who steals the film by the way, from her hilarious antics. It is a heart warming story set in New York that you won’t soon forget. I was disappointed in Youth in Revolt because Michael Cera still played Michael Cera. If you want, in my opinion, a completely different Michael Cera, then you will not be disappointed with this film.

Superbad

You’ve probably seen it so all that needs to be said is… McLovin.
