Yeah Yeah (Oh) Yeahs

Remember when Michael and Janet Jackson dropped $7 million dollars to create the music video for “Scream”? Remember watching VH1′s Top 10 countdown when Creed, The Goo Goo Dolls, Matchbox Twenty and Sugar Ray were still relevant? Remember how just very recently MTV dropped the “music” connotation that the “M” in its logo once signified. As the demand for playing music videos on mainstream TV dropped, almost as fast as a pair of Ed Hardy bedazzled jeans on Jersey Shore after a night of drinking, so did record label’s alloted portion of an artists’ budget for said mini music movies. The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s video for  ”Heads Will Roll”, a single of their newest release, It’s Blitz, breathes a bit of fresh air into a nearly completely sunken ship called “The Music Video”. Watch for the numerous nods to the late king of pop, and also shake a finger at the ending scene’s creative portrayal of blood, as 3Oh!3 used a similar idea in their infancy while self-making a video for one of their early “singles”.
